About the Summer Camp
What is more important than having kids to enjoying their summer while learning filial piety? Filial Piety is a virtue of respect for one’s parents, elders, and ancestors.
This summer, at Ming Hwa Temple, we offer a free summer camp where kids will enjoy their time here with their friends or making new friends and doing a lot of fun activities. Our goal for this summer camp is to teach children Filial Piety by playing games and engaging activities such as drawing, singing, dancing, and making handicrafts.
What Will Children Learn?
Through experiential lessons and activities, your child will learn important topics outside of the regular school curriculum. An example of such topics is this year’s Filial Love (孝道).
Children will learn:
-
To cherish and appreciate parents’ love and efforts in raising them.
-
To develop empathy and respect towards parents.
-
To stand in parents’ shoes and be more helpful and considerate to parents.
-
To appreciate and explore the wonders of Chinese culture and Confucius values.
-
To understand what it means to be a good child to mom and dad.
-
To make friends who are also learning to appreciate their parents.
-
To interact and cooperate with other children in small and supportive group environments.
-
To see that learning is a fun thing to do.
-
To be more independent and well-mannered.
Learn Chinese language, Chinese proverbs, and Confucian teachings. Learning is FUN, FUN, FUN!!
